The Odyssey of the Mind program emphasizes creativity and teamwork. Students form teams that consist of 5-7 kids in the same age range (preferably same grade), from the same school.   The team chooses a problem from the list provided and spends from October until the competition in March, working on a skit that "solves" the problem (this section is called the "Long Term" problem).  Each team needs an adult coach.  The coach is there to supervise, not to help.  If the coach is a teacher, the team usually meets during the school day or after school.  If a parent coaches the team, they usually meet outside of school, after school or on weekends.  This is a great opportunity for students in all grades 3 through 12.  If you child is interested, please contact Mrs. Roy at 348-2620 or troy@southlewis.org.
